A - Easy Walks

River Usk Walk

A captivating easy stroll following pleasant footpaths and tracks along river banks and through woodland copses on fairly level terrain, this walk is unlike any other in the Brecon Beacons, offering something different for both the novice and more experienced walker to enjoy.

Most of the walk is alongside the banks of the picturesque River Usk that teems fish and is home to a host of wild life and water fowl, including otters, king fishers and heron.

About halfway around is an excellent picnic spot by the old bridge at Abercynrig Mill on the banks of the River Cynrig. Towards the end the walk takes you over the Usk Bridge in Brecon town providing an excuse to 'rest your feet and recover' at the Boars Head pub that has an excellent selection of locally brewed ales and a patio overlooking the river.
